Curriculum Overview

Foxhole Learning Academy uses the National Curriculum as a basis to plan units of work with a cross-curricular, thematic approach which is meaningful and engaging for children.

The school curriculum:

  • provides opportunities for all pupils to learn and achieve
  • promotes spiritual, moral, social and cultural development
  • prepare all pupils for opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of life

At Foxhole Learning Academy, there is an emphasis on experiential learning including the opportunities for outdoor activities, visits, visitors and cross-curricular links, leading to an immersive approach where children take ownership and develop a love of learning. The impact is that children leave our setting ready for their next stage in the wider world of secondary education.

This Autumn our teachers are using a range of resources and techniques to identify any gaps in our pupil's learning. Catching up will be a year long approach and not a quick fix.

Curriculum Content
We are currently redesigning our curriculum so that we can maximise the retention of key skills and knowledge, so that children build on prior learning no matter what their starting point.
